Sessions to testify to House next week in Russian Federation probe

Both panels are probing Russian interference and whether President Donald Trump's campaign was involved.

Page also wrote that he had been provided "incredible insights and outreach" by Russian lawmakers and "senior members" of Russian President Vladimir Putin's administration during the trip.

According to the documents, George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign adviser, said at a March 31, 2016, meeting of Trump foreign policy advisers "that he had connections that could help arrange a meeting between then-candidate Trump and President Putin".

Speaking on CBS's "Face the Nation", Senate intelligence committee ranking Democrat Mark Warner, of Virginia, said he might want to hear more from Sessions.

Last Monday, unsealed court records revealed that Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to making false statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his interactions with foreign officials close to the Russian government - one of the campaign's clearest connections so far to Russia's efforts to meddle in the 2016 election.

The transcript of the six-hour interview confirms that Page invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege against turning over to the panel certain documents - including those involving his July 2016 trip to Russian Federation - for two reasons.

Page sent the email describing his interaction with Dvorkovich in Moscow to campaign aide J.D. Gordon, as well as a different campaign aide.

Page also acknowledged that in June 2016 he mentioned "in passing" to then-Senator Jeff Sessions, a Trump foreign policy adviser, that he might be taking a trip to Moscow - but that it wasn't connected to his unpaid role in the campaign.

Alerts for heavy rains, high winds issued for Cayuga County
Sunday's winds could break tree branches and down weaker trees, particularly those in saturated soils after recent rains . Low pressure will deepen off Mid Atlantic coast this afternoon and evening and shift into into New England Monday morning.

For months, Page has denied meeting with Russian government officials while in Moscow.

Page addressed some of the questions about those trips in more than seven hours of testimony last week to the House committee.

When asked if he had a private meeting with Dvorkovich on that second trip, Page replied: "We did - he stopped by a dinner I went to in December with people from the university".

Congress has been investigating possible Trump campaign collusion with the Kremlin for almost 10 months, but a top Senate Democrat says she has still not seen evidence to support the allegation. Prosecutors said they must confirm that they are the real owners.

The House panel's top Democrat, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, cited a memo Page sent campaign officials that quoted Page as writing "in a private conversation, Dvorkovich expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to the vast range of current global problems".

And the argument that this is all a hoax or witch hunt has fallen on deaf ears.

Research for the dossier, which Trump has derided, was funded by the campaign of Trump's 2016 opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic National Committee.
