Scouting leaders react to Boy Scouts decision

Even if they find that Girl Scouts don't meet their needs, identifying what you see as a problem in the world and working to change it is exactly what Girl Scouting teaches, and I hope they find fulfilling experiences in the new Boy Scouting programs.

"I don't look at the gender rule, I look at what the scouts have to offer and it's about teaching them to be our future leaders..."

In an online blog responding to Wednesday's announcement, the Girl Scouts tightly summed up their response: "The need for female leadership has never been clearer or more urgent than it is today-and only Girl Scouts has the expertise to give girls and young women the tools they need for success". Explorer Clubs serve middle school youth, ages 10 to 13, while Explorer Posts works with older boys and girls, aged 14 to 20.

Gentles carried his son's first uniform and patches. Unless it's all about the money...and I think it is.

The positive feedback was a common theme among patrons. "Scouting is a great program for all children", said Ron Cole, who is a member of Pack 67's leadership committee in Oakdale and was a Cub Scout himself in the 1950s. Indeed, I've spent the last 15 years explaining my Girl Scout Gold Award to friends, colleagues and prospective employers as the "Girl Scout version" of the Eagle Scout rank.

But the change is not without its critics, not the least of which is the Girls Scouts of the USA. "They're all good core values to have". "It is time to make these outstanding leadership development programs available to girls".

"If she did (scouts) with boys, would she have had the same voice in that setting?"

Punk singer-turned-ISIS recruiter 'killed' in drone strike
The Defence Secretary, Sir Michael Fallon , said Jones, dubbed the " White Widow ", was a "legitimate target". In 2016, she was accused of encouraging ISIS sympathisers to launch attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.

Automatic weapons may have been used in Las Vegas massacre
The friend of shooter of Las Vegas , Marilou Danley, had no idea of perpetrator's plans according to his own information. Among his weapons were an AR-15, an AK-47, four Daniel Defense DDM4 rifles, three FN-15s and more.

Putin did not propose extending oil output cut deal
He also referred to a 2015 deal when the Public Investment Fund (PIF) agreed to invest $10 billion in Russian Federation . King Salman even brought his own furniture along to the luxury hotels booked by the Saudi government for the visit.

Barker noted that numerous older girls in her council were interested in talking about issues such as the sexual-assault problem on college campus. The move has rightfully drawn the ire of Girl Scouts of America. "Girl Scouts is the best girl leadership experience in the world, period", she said. "Girl Scouts remains committed to and believes strongly in the importance of the all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment, creating a necessary safe space for girls to learn and thrive".

CNN reported that the Boy Scouts' national membership has been declining in recent years, going from 2.8 million in 2012 to 2.3 million in 2016.

In fact, what's happening to the Scouts is a microcosm of what's happening to boys around the country - feminization. She says the troop is about family, rather than gender. Because they believe that now more than ever, Americans need to know and understand their rights. "It was overwhelming support that we should move forward". While many national representatives have criticized the announcement, some lifetime Girl Scouts say it might be beneficial, potentially serving as a wake-up call to the national Girl Scouts organization. But some, including Girl Scouts of the United States of America, claim the Boy Scouts are aiming to draw from the existing organization for girls. Smith said he can remember when he started his career with Boy Scouts in 1982 that unit leaders wanted their daughters to go. I suspect that the BSA thinks that this latest move will allow them to get out ahead of the next big culture war battle, which will involve some combination of feminist entitlement and increased transgender acceptance.

The growth of the Connecticut River Council with the inclusion of girls in the Cub Scouts and Eagle Scout program is unclear. "It's nice it's focused on girls - allowing girls to be girls without having to compete with boys", she said. In part, the motivation is to help families. She may want to learn how to hunt and fish and camp and be a part of more rugged outdoor activities.

Why isn't there anything like the Eagle Scout Award? "As a young woman, those opportunities are hard to come by".

"Girls Scouts have to get 80-plus hours of community service", Jenco said.
