Facebook Users Can Now Order Food on Facebook

Options include any nearby restaurants that use Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow, Zuppler, EatStreet, Slice and Olo. However, with the advent of new technologies, these restaurants have adopted many new options and different services, including Internet ordering and even mobile applications, often over-complicating the process of ordering food for folks not used to technology, or even a specific website or app menu and checkout layout. The company announced today that users in the United States can use the platform to order food for takeout and delivery.

A new feature that allows you to order takeout through the Facebook app is now being rolled out in the United States.

From the past year, Facebook was testing this feature, now finally it is coming out in the USA. According to Himel, it was "complicated" for users to first search a restaurant on the site, and then log onto a third-party service, or call the restaurant to deliver the food.

The social media giant is expanding the ability to order food for takeout or delivery straight from the app or desktop.

Facebook is also partnering on food ordering directly with national chains Chipotle, Five Guys, Jack in the Box, Papa John's, Wingstop, Panera, TGI Friday's, Denny's, El Pollo Loco, and Jimmy John's. Back in August, it expanded its Marketplace service - which offers Craigslist-like ads for local sales - to seventeen new European countries, taking the total number of locations it's available in to 24.

The idea was to determine if adding a point of entry through the main navigation of Facebook could help increase usage for its food ordering feature. The really interesting aspect of this, though, is that Facebook isn't just partnering with individual restaurants and fast food joints to get this done. So people can place an order on Facebook.
