Boy, 10, leads mum, police on wild 160km/h pursuit in family auto

Troopers eventually boxed him in, according to, with one cruiser striking the back driver's side and turning him into another cruiser to end the chase.

Lt. Richard Reeder said the pursuit lasted about an hour and speeds topped 100 miles per hour. The little trip is his second in two weeks, and highway patrol said that they are discussing whether or not to pursue criminal charges.

The boy's father said the family is working together to get him the help he needs.

"One of the troopers made visual contact, eye-to-eye contact with the child and motioned for him to pull over, and the child physically shook his head "no" and continued driving", Reeder told Cleveland 19 news.

The boy spent the night in jail after being taken to the hospital to be evaluated. Officers received a report on the vehicle theft, and found the mother's 2013 Dodge Charger with three flat tires on I-90 in Cleveland.

The boy led Westlake officers on a chase through Lorain and Erie counties.

Police said he only stopped during that incident because the vehicle got three flat tires. "He's a good driver".
