BJP to celebrate November 8 as 'Anti-Black Money Day'

While the BJP has chose to observe November 8 as anti-black money day, the opposition parties announced on Tuesday that they will observe it as "Black Day" to protest against the "ill-conceived and hasty" decision of the government to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. Jaitley presented an optimistic picture of the state of the economy, insisting that the Indian economy remains on a strong wicket with sound macro-economic fundamentals.

The Congress on Wednesday hit out at the BJP over its move to observe November 8 as "anti-black money day", calling it a "desperate move" to divert attention from the "blunder" of demonetisation and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi demit office on moral grounds.

On November 8, the party will organise programmes highlighting all the steps the government has taken against black money.

The finance minister also rejected the criticism that note ban decision did not expose black money, saying it came from those who did not understand its objects. I can not recollect a single significant step they ever took against black money.

"Agreements with Mauritius and Cyprus that allowed round tripping of money have been reworked".
