Pak violates ceasefire again, BSF jawan killed in Arnia

Intermittent firing continued across the worldwide border in Jammu in which a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was killed in the wee hours of Friday.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) continued intensified mortar shelling on Sialkot border villages in Harpal and Charwah sectors of Sialkot Working Boundary nearly the whole night (the night between Friday and Saturday).

The unprovoked by the Pakistani troops began during the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The rangers resorted to shelling and firing in Arnia sub-sector of Jammu district using mortars, automatics and small arms, a police official said.

The injured civilians were shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialized treatment, where a woman identified as Rattano Devi wife of Chuni of Allah village succumbed to her injuries. "An ambulance has already been pressed into service at the shelling affected areas", he said.

By midnight, the entire border in Arnia sector had become alive with BSF retaliating at all places. "BSF troopers are retaliating emphatically and successfully", said BSF sources to IANS news office. There have been 285 violations of the border ceasefire agreement of 2003 by Pakistan in the first eight months of this year, according to figures by the Indian Army.
