Tillerson Says He and Trump Not 'Happy' About Russian Sanctions

One former senior department official told Politico part of the delay is due to the new and convoluted decision-making process by Tillerson, a former ExxonMobil CEO.

As reported, the President of the United States Donald trump is already acquainted with the final version of the bill on the introduction of a more tightened sanctions against Russian Federation and intend to sign it. Tillerson said he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't express his views, even when they conflict with those of the president. The Senate last week approved new sanctions against Russia، Iran and North Korea that are now waiting for President Donald to sign into law.

Tillerson added that Trump will most likely sign the bill, adding however, that Washington will nevertheless try to restore relations with Moscow. Another $19.8 million sits untouched at the State Department as Tillerson's aides reject calls from career diplomats and members of Congress to put the money to work against America's adversaries.

"There's paranoia and inertia - decisions are not being made", a State Department official told the website. Tillerson suggested the action was expected, given the domestic pressure on the Russian leader to retaliate for steps Obama took to punish Russia after US intelligence agencies concluded Moscow meddled in the election.
