Taylor Swift announces new album ... on Instagram

Taylor Swift announced a new album titled "Reputation" today, just over a week after scoring a court victory at a high-profile groping trial in Colorado.

Taylor Swift has announced Reputation, her sixth album.

Over the previous several days, Taylor has mysteriously wiped out her social media and posted a video of a slithering snake. In the meantime, fans will just have to wait until the album's release on November 10.

Well, if you've been wondering what Taylor Swift is up to after scrubbing her social media accounts, only to resurface earlier this week with weird videos of a black snake, speculate no more.

"First single out tomorrow night", a post said.

While she's co-written songs for Little Big Town and Calvin Harris since then, and past year hit the charts with "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", her duet with Zayn Malik on the "Fifty Shades Darker" soundtrack, Swift has mostly remained quiet musically. Early this year, "I Don't Want To Live Forever", her duet with Zayn Malik, reached the No. 2 spot on the Hot 100. With her fifth album, the pop-focused 1989 (2014), she became the first act to have three albums sell a million copies within one week in the United States. It would make a triumphant climax of the past few weeks for Swift, who faced off against the former radio DJ David Mueller who she alleged had touched her inappropriately during a meet-and-greet in 2013.

Get ready, world. Taylor Swift is back. Swift, you better be ready.

Take, for example, the album cover for the record, which depicts Swift in grayscale, clad in a distressed sweatshirt against a backdrop of manufactured newspaper headlines. A new album? A new song?

The two graphics Swift uploaded alongside the album art are included below.

From "Shake It Off" to "Blank Space", much of Swift's music centers on her relationship with the public and her many perceptions.

After all, even Beyoncé had to perform a medley when she played Lemonade at the VMAs.
