Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has been battling serious health complications for recent years, but yesterday he was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at a local hospital in Mumbai with kidney-related complications.

Earlier, Kumars wife Saira Banu had said, "We (all) should pray he recovers soon". He even celebrated his 94th birthday on December 11 past year in hospital.

A report in The Indian Express revealed that the doctors cite age and renal failure due to high creatinine levelsas the actual reason for the ailment.

Of late, Dilip Kumar has been admitted to the hospital several times.

Dilip Kumar's health condition worsens as his doctor confirmed that his kidneys are not functioning normally. According to the reports, the legendary actor had to be admitted to the hospital because of dehydration and urine infection.

The actor was admitted in the hospital after he complained of dehydration and urinary problems. He further said that he needs a dialysis.

Dr Jalil Parkar, who is treating the actor at the hospital, was unavailable for a confirmation on this. He was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

The thespian has given memorable performances in films like "Andaz", "Aan", "Madhumati", "Devdas", "Mughal-e-Azam", "Ganga Jamuna", "Kranti", "Karma" and others.
