Man arrested over British model kidnapped in Italy

She is believed to have been drugged and transported in a bag to a secluded village near Turin, before being released on July 17.

The woman was eventually released after six days in captivity when he kidnapper realised she had a child.

Reports in Italy said the woman has given statements to police and prosecutors aided by lawyers from the British Consulate.

It has been reported that the captor demanded £50,000 upon the woman's release and threatened to kill her if she told police about the incident.

She was allegedly assaulted and drugged when she arrived at the studio the next day, then placed in a vehicle boot and taken to a small village near Turin where she was kept prisoner by Lukasz Pawel Herba, a British resident born in Poland, police said.

The 20-year-old woman was attacked on July 11 by two men as she attended an arranged photo shoot.

They continued that the 20-year-old was kept chained to a wooden dresser in the farmhouse while her captors attempted to sell her on the dark web for more than £230,000 and demanded the model's agent pay to secure her safe release.

Italian media reports that Herba has links to the "Black Death" criminal organisation that works on the dark web.

According to the Italian police, the suspect used encrypted accounts to ask the model's agent for $300,000 to stop the online auction from going ahead.

He has been charged with kidnapping for the purposes of extortion.

The report says investigators also are exploring the possibility the woman was abducted so she could be auctioned off online.

The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was held prisoner for a week after being drugged, authorities said.

It is understood the police investigation involved reconstructing the kidnapping scene and studying CCTV footage from the area.
