Lamborghini launches Alpha-One, Android-powered smartphone with Snapdragon 820

In what Lamborghini are calling the "Prefect fusion of Italian design & the most luxurious technology", the supercar manufacturer is bringing us the "ALPHA-ONE" smartphone.

The Alpha-One sports a 5.5-inch WQHD (1440×2560) display and is powered by a now two-year-old Snapdragon 820 SoC. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on a 3,250mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, although a charger is not provided with the phone. It measures 152.00 x 77.00 x 8.00 (height x width x thickness).

A smartphone from a Luxury carmaker such as Lamborghini will undoubtedly come with a premium price tag. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G. The company has just ventured into phone manufacturing with the Alpha One and as the name implies, the luxury phone is its first model.

From the outside, the Alpha One is rather boxy in appearance. An Italian leather case is also provided with the phone. The premium smartphone will be available at the Levant luxury boutique in the Dubai Mall and in the shops of selected highest-level hotels in UAE, such as Levant Boutique at Atlantis Hotel The Palm, Jumeirah Al Qasr Hotel, Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel, Four Season Hotel, and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel. The handset was powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and packed in 3GB of RAM.

On the photography front, the Lamborghini smartphone comes with a 20MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera. The Lamborghini Alpha-One is based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box and we can not expect any major updates such as Android Oreo in the future.

There's also a fingerprint reader, a USB-C port, front-firing stereo speakers, optical image stabilisation for the rear camera, and even a headphone jack and a dedicated DAC for audio fans.
