Erdogan Urges Turks in Germany to Vote Against Merkel

Ties between Ankara and Berlin have been strained in recent months as Turkish leaders slammed Germany, accusing it of turning a blind eye to the activities of outlawed groups and terrorist organizations hostile to Turkey. "Vote for those who don't have enmity towards Turkey".

Turkey and Iran have agreed on sharing intelligence and cooperating operationally in the fight against terror, Iran's Chief of Staff Gen. Mohammad Bagheri said on Thursday.

Yet the two countries are major trade partners and allies in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

The Customs Union agreement between Turkey and the EU entered into force in 1995 and covers all industrial goods but does not include agriculture, services or public procurement.

Ankara Mayor Melih Gokcek, a staunch Erdogan loyalist, lashed out against Ozdemir on Twitter, warning: "Sit tight!"
