Chrystia Freeland: North Korea Missile Test 'Reckless' Violation Of Japan's Sovereignty

The missile test on Wednesday was conducted by the US Missile Defense Agency and Navy sailors on the USS John Paul Jones, a guided-missile destroyer.

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency announced Wednesday that it successfully shot down a medium-range ballistic missile off the coast of Hawaii in a new test of its missile defense system at sea.

The Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai launched the target missile late Tuesday.

Mike Campisi, Raytheon's SM-6 senior program director, said the company developed the anti-ballistic missile capability in just seven months after it was requested earlier this year.

By firing a long-range missile over Japan that landed in the northern Pacific Ocean, North Korea is showing a total disregard for its global obligations, she said in a statement Tuesday.

Nurse Enjoyed Sending Patients Into Cardiac Arrest, Allegedly Killed 86
The number of killings was likely higher because some victims were cremated, making it impossible to gather evidence, he added. Hoegel admitted during his trial that he caused cardiac crises in approximately 90 patients so could resuscitate them.

Rex Tillerson Won't Say If Trump 'Speaks For American Values'
Notably, Tillerson was quick to put Trump's threats of "fire and fury" against North Korea into perspective, reassuring Americans that there was no imminent threat of a nuclear war.

In July, the Air Force launched a medium-range ballistic missile over the Pacific that was intercepted by a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system at a complex in Kodiak, Alaska.

This exercise marked the seventh intercept test of the Aegis Baseline 9.1 (BMD 5.0CU) Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) tracking and engagement capabilities and the third successful SM-6 BMD intercept test using Baseline 9.1. Monday's intercept test, like others the USA has conducted, was long planned, the MDA said.

Due to the diplomatic efforts and sanctions failing to make headway in stopping the North Korea threat, Higbie is concerned the USA may be forced to consider the military options.

The missile test comes amid rising tensions between the US and North Korea after Pyongyang conducted several missile tests in recent months.

In May, the USA, in the first test of its ground-based intercept system at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, intercepted an intercontinental ballistic missile launched from the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, which is 4,200 miles away. President Donald Trump said "all options are on the table" in response to the test. An earlier test of the same interceptor in February succeeded.
