Sano In Tonight's Home Run Derby

The Home Run Derby takes place tonight from Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. Stanton has 26, and Bellinger has 25. The only other rookie in Major League Baseball history to hit at least 30 homers before the All-Star break was Mark McGwire in 1987 (33).

The Home Run Derby began utilizing a new format in the 2015 edition of the event, and it definitely strays from the old tradition of just trying to outdo every other competitor before you hit 10 outs. He is attempting to join Ken Griffey Jr. The only other two-time victor was Prince Fielder (2009, 2012). The great news is that they have a seven day free trial, meaning you can enjoy all the MLB All Star festivities without signing up for an expensive cable package or having to try and find an illegal stream.

The only winners in their home park were the Chicago Cubs' Ryne Sandberg in 1990 and the Cincinnati Reds' Todd Frazier in 2014.

New York Yankees rookie slugger Aaron Judge, who leads the majors with 30 homers, is also part of the eight-man field for the derby.

The American League will be represented by Twins third baseman Miguel Sano, Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez, Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas.

Yankees rookie Aaron Judge is ranked No. 2. The rookie is set to face Charlie Blackmon of Colorado in the opening round of the derby.

In the new format, each competitor goes for four minutes, attempting to hit as many home runs as possible without having to worry about outs or waiting for the ideal pitch. Homers of at least 440 feet earn a 30-second bonus.

In the four-minute spurts, players have the ability to call a timeout to give themselves some rest, and not just swinging for four minutes straight.

While it has not occurred in either of the past two years, ties for any round are broken by a 60-second wing off with no stopping the clock and no added time.

"I'm pretty sure the excitement will be through the roof", Judge said.
