Ancic to join Djokovic coaching team at Wimbledon

World number 4 Novak Djokovic made a decision to take a wild card in Eastbourne in order to get some matches on grass before Wimbledon, and he went all the way, defeating Gael Monfils 6-3 6-4 in 76 minutes for his 68th ATP title, and the 4th on grass.

It's the 68th career title for Djokovic, and his first on grass outside of Wimbledon, which he won in 2011, 2014, and 2015.

Djokovic wasted no time in the final, breaking serve in the opening game, and saved all three break points he face in the contest.

At Eastbourne, Djokovic is the top seed and Monfils is the second seed.

In the women's tournament, Caroline Wozniacki played through an abdominal injury to beat Heather Watson 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 and advance to a final against Karolina Pliskova, who got a walkover after Johanna Konta pulled out of their semifinal match because of a spine injury.

Djokovic has not dropped a single set at Eastbourne.

Monfils recovered to take the set into a tie-break, only to miss a third match point before Gasquet, 31, forced a decider when Monfils double-faulted on the third set point.

It has been an indifferent year for Djokovic by his usually impeccably high standards, but the Serbian defeated Gael Monfils 6-3 6-4 to take home the title in Eastbourne.

Djokovic, a three-time Wimbledon champion, will start against Martin Klizan at the All England Club next week after claiming just his second title of the season at Eastbourne. "It's great. You know, the crowd is always fantastic and coming out and supporting, and I feel like it's the same faces you see year in and year out".

"This is the best possible preparation for Wimbledon so hopefully I can go on from here", the 30-year-old said.
