San Francisco Giants 2017 draft picks with Bay Area ties

With the 21st overall pick in the draft, the Orioles have selected lefty D.L. Hall from Valdosta High School out of Valdosta, Georgia. He was rated as the 16th best prospect on the board by Baseball America, the 14th overall prospect by MLB.com, and the 8th-best prospect in this year's draft by ESPN's Keith Law.

Former Deseret News Mr. Baseball honoree Colton Shaver was a 39th-round pick, going at No. 1171 overall to the Houston Astros.

Baltimore selected shortstop Adam Hall out of A.B. Lucas Secondary School in Ontario, Canada with the 60th overall pick. St. Johns River State College pitcher Pearson McMahan, a Middleburg High grad, was picked in the fourth round by the Rockies, and Suwannee High catcher Sam McMillan went in the fifth to the Tigers.

After a short adjustment period, Hall went on to display all the skill and ability that led to him entering into the season as a MaxPreps All-American with a signed LOI to play baseball at Florida State. For Baumann, it's quite a turnabout from the last time that he went through the draft process. After making 11 appearances out of the bullpen in 2015 and posting a 3.09 ERA with eight strikeouts, Keaton made the transition to starter in 2016.

The Orioles seem to be in love Hall's skills at the plate and believe he has the potential to be a five-tool type of player in the future.

Londoner Adam Hall has a choice to make. In his junior year, the Virginia native struck out a team high 50 batters.

However, with another strong season he could enter the 2018 draft as one of the top closing prospects in the nation.

The 23-year-old Keaton was 4-6 with a 5.52 ERA over 75 innings during the 2017 season.

The Utes also had a high school signee drafted in the 28th round.
