Across the US, marches and rallies in support of LGBT rights

By enlightening younger activists and would-be activists, as well as pulling together people who believed they'd never have to fight the same battles they had when they were younger, events like #ResistMarch empower Americans to take this country back, fighting against discriminatory policies and making sure America is for all of us, not just a few.

Thousands of people chanting "love trumps hate" have marched through the streets of Washington in a celebration of LGBTQ pride that also carried a message aimed at the U.S. president.

In 2016, the LA Pride parade was marked by a somber tone in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla. Still others claim they have been outright banned from participating.

Outside the Beltway, meanwhile, legal teams and organizations that once fought for same-sex marriage in courthouses across the country have been training their sites on a new objective -- so-called religious freedom bills at the state level that would allow individuals and businesses to deny services they feel are contrary to their religious beliefs.

A spokesperson for the Charlotte parade says that they reserve "the right to decline participation at our events to groups and or organizations which do not reflect the mission, vision and values of our organization, as is acknowledged in our parade rules and regulations by all groups at the time of their parade application".

"I am so proud of you Saskatoon, for showing them how we can overpower hate", he said.

"Charlotte Pride envisions a world in which LGBTQ people are affirmed, respected, and included in the full social and civic life of their local communities, free from fear of any discrimination, rejection, and prejudice".

Participants at the Real Pride March are being discouraged from bringing signs that mention organizations or corporations.
