Stones set to return for Man City's final two games

Guardiola hopes Zabaleta finishes his time at the club by helping them secure qualification for next season's Champions League, with Guardiola's men now ahead of Arsenal in the race for fourth place.

Pep Guardiola claims his first season at Manchester City would have ended in the sack at former clubs Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

He was a key member of the side that won the Premier League title in 2012, scoring the opening goal in the dramatic 3-2 final-day win over Queens Park Rangers that ensured City became champions of England for the first time since 1968.

"Here they gave me a second chance".

Having invested so much effort in recruiting Guardiola - they first approached him in 2012 before finally landing their man previous year - it is unthinkable City would wield the axe so soon.

The Spaniard can look forward to a busy transfer window after the season ends, as he looks to build a squad capable of fighting for the league title and mounting a challenge in the Champions League.

Despite Man City's win over Leicester, Shaka Hislop feels Pep Guardiola must do a better job at managing games.

Speaking at a press conference, Guardiola said: "Tomorrow is important for what happens next season".

Despite being reduced to a more marginal role under the current manager, the 32-year-old's significance is not lost on Guardiola ahead of what is likely to be an emotional farewell to the Etihad Stadium against West Brom on Tuesday. For me, we couldn't let people say something like that about us. "I never saw one player in my life go to the pitch and not try to win the game".
