Rookie Bellinger homers twice, Dodgers beat Padres 8-2

The three-time Cy Young Award victor struck out nine Padres, Cody Bellinger hit a grand slam, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won their second straight game in San Diego, 10-2, on Saturday night at Petco Park. "I'm just getting some good pitches to hit and doing the most with it".

"That was wonderful", Kershaw said of Bellinger.

"Every time he steps on the field, let alone in the batter's box, you think something is going to happen", Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

"I was trying to go down and away with my sinker".

The Dodgers gave Kershaw the lead with three runs in the fourth inning, and tacked on two more when Kiké Hernandez hit a two-run double with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth. "The ball just stayed flat in the middle".

Padres starter Clayton Richard issued six of those walks and chased then with seven hits allowed in 5.0 innings to take the loss. Toles failed on the bunt attempt, worked the count full and ripped a two-run double into the right-center field gap that opened the door for the Dodgers to beat the San Diego Padres, 8-2, on Friday night at Petco Park.

It was the longest nine-inning Padres game in franchise history at 4 hours, 11 minutes. Hunter Renfroe followed with the first of his two walks but Kershaw got Blash to fly out. Josh Fields posted his first save after throwing 1 1/3 innings.
