Manchester attacker's father, younger brother arrested in Tripoli - spokesman

READ ALSO: 10 held in Manchester attack probe Andy Burnham, mayor of Manchester, complained to the U.S ambassador and said he was assured the leaks would stop.

Shortly after the attack, the suicide bomber was identified as Salman Abedi, 22.

There was also a growing focus on Abedi's father on Wednesday, with The Associated Press reporting he has past ties to an al Qaeda-linked group in Libya, and possibly still harbors extremist Islamic views.

The Associated Press confirmed his name shortly before 4:30 p.m. local time, citing anonymous USA officials.

Reports have also said Abedi's father and elder brother were active at the mosque.

He said he spoke to his son five days ago and that he was getting ready for a religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

He said Salman visited Libya a month-and-a-half ago and only returned to Manchester after winning a cheap ticket to Umrah.

ISIS has issued a claim of responsibility for the bombing, but the level of the terrorist group's involvement isn't known. There was nothing worrying at all until ...

Elders at the south Manchester mosque believed to have been frequented by Abedi insisted that his actions were wholly alien to their preaching, and pointed the finger at online radicalisation.

Many at the concert were young girls and teens enthralled by Grande's pop power - and those who died included an 8-year-old girl.

A man arrested on Tuesday was reported by British and USA media to be Abedi's other brother.

Pediatricians Advise No Fruit Juice Until Kids Are 1
Children under the age of 1 should not be given fruit juice unless a doctor says it's OK, according to the new guidelines. Additionally, children and teens ages 7-18 should only drink one cup per day (8oz).

Police and security services are also upset that the name of bomber Salman Abedi was apparently leaked by USA officials and published while police in Britain were withholding the name for what they said were reasons of operational security.

In London, police and security are being boosted, the Metropolitan Police Service announced Wednesday. He spent 25 years in Britain before returning to Libya in 2011 after Gadhafi was ousted and killed in the country's civil war. Rawlinson says "she was academically a very gifted student, very hard-working".

Abedi died in the attack.

In Tripoli, a government spokesman confirmed an earlier eyewitness report that Abedi's father had been arrested by the Libyan counter-terrorism forces.

There have been six arrests, including a man literally taken down on the street in Wigan on Wednesday and a woman detained late Wednesday during an armed raid at a block of flats in Blackley, north Manchester.

Authorities are now investigating a "network" of people and have arrested four suspects in connection with the attack, Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said in a press conference on Wednesday, May 24.

The threat level for Britain was raised to its highest level after bomber Salman Abedi killed 22 people at a concert Monday night at Manchester Arena.

British counter-terrorism officials have hit out at their United States counterparts for apparently leaking intelligence to the American media in connection with the Manchester attack inquiry.

The officials suggested trust had been "breached" and the investigation had been "undermined". The Briton blew himself up at a military base in Iraq in February. Crowds gathered at well-known sites including London's Parliament and Trafalgar Squares and Manchester's Albert Square.

The sweeping investigation has caused friction between US and British security and intelligence officials.

Police officers stand on duty following a raid at Granby House, close to Manchester Piccadilly railway station in Manchester. She said she hopes it never happens again but it did again when the pictures were published. It was unclear whether Abedi was under surveillance as recently as the attack. "This is not us", the senior Abedi said.
