First look at Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon

Providing CBS unparalleled stability, the Network will return 23 successful series to its 2017-2018 schedule.

"Big Bang Theory" prequel "Young Sheldon" will debut with its parent series in a special preview on September 25 before returning in its regular Thursday time slot on November 2 after the conclusion of "Thursday Night Football". Iain Armitage will star as a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper (the older version is Jim Parsons), a math and science genius growing up in Texas "where church and football are king".

Following "The Big Bang Theory" and "Young Sheldon", "Mom" returns to Thursdays at 9 p.m.

CBS' other two new fall comedies are "9JKL", based on star Mark Feuerstein's real-life experiences living in an apartment between his parents and his brother; and "Me, Myself & I", about a guy seen at the ages of 14, 40 and 65.

Returning shows being held for midseason include "The Amazing Race", "Code Black", "Elementary", "Man with a Plan" and "Undercover Boss". But CBS CEO Leslie Moonves isn't so sure: "You want to leave on top, but you don't want to leave money on the table", he said, adding he felt former hit Everybody Loves Raymond left the schedule "three years too early". Then, ME, MYSELF & I will move to its regular 9:00 PM time period, followed by the return of SUPERIOR DONUTS at 9:30 PM, starring Jermaine Fowler and Judd Hirsch.
