Concerns over Jared Kushner's secret Russian 'back channel'

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) said Tuesday that senior adviser to the President Jared Kushner had engaged in a "serious breach" of protocol when he reportedly sought to set up a communications backchannel with the Russian government using Russian facilities.

Corker said it appears to him that Kushner is "not a target, so I think I would just wait". He is respected by virtually everyone and is working on programs that will save our country billions of dollars. "In addition to that, and perhaps more importantly, he is a very good person", Trump said.

"Any channel of communications, back or otherwise, is a good thing", he said on "Fox News Sunday", suggesting that he did not know the facts behind the reported December discussions between Kushner and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. But he said on "Fox News Sunday" that "any channel of communications back or otherwise with a country like Russian Federation is a good thing". Although he declares the trip to have been a success, other foreign leaders disagree and were troubled by the United States of America president's stubbornness and refusal to answer questions."Just because you have a back channel, if indeed that's what Jared was after, doesn't mean that he then keeps everything secret", Kelly said on NBC's "Meet the Press".

Both The Wall Street Journal - on Friday - and the Washington daily, on Sunday, reported that Trump is planning a big shakeup in the White House, including possibly dismissing or reducing the role of Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

Ex CIA Chief: Russia 'brazenly interfered in our election'
He said that the contacts picked up by USA intelligence justified the opening of an FBI investigation that has overshadowed Mr. Did I characterize that correctly? "And they were very aggressive", former CIA Director John Brennan testified Tuesday.

On Sunday, Trump tweeted that "whenever you see the words "sources say" in the fake news media, and they don't mention names.it is very possibly that those sources don't exist but are made up by fake news writers".

Earlier this month, Trump fired the FBI director, James Comey, who was overseeing that investigation. The Post also reported that Mr. Kushner had proposed the communications channel and that it took Mr. Kislyak by surprise.

The plan could reportedly include building a "war room" within the White House to combat the scandal and feature the return of some of Mr Trump's more combative campaign aides, including Corey Lewandowski, who was sacked as campaign manager almost a year ago, and David N. Bossie, who was deputy campaign manager and made his name in politics by investigating Bill and Hillary Clinton for two decades, the Post reported.

The FBI, a special counsel and multiple congressional committees are investigating Russian interference in the US presidential campaign a year ago and whether the Trump camp colluded in it.
