BJP dubs Mulayam's statement on Akhilesh as 'another episode of family drama'

On Friday, Shivpal blew the bugle of rebellion in the party by declaring to form a secular front under the leadership of Mulayam Singh Yadav and demanded resignation of Akhilesh Yadav from the post of the national president.

With regards to his newly formed Secular Morcha, Shivpal Yadav said its main objective "was to restore the lost honour of Mulayam Singh Yadav".

While addressing a rally in Manipur, Mulayam Singh Yadav expressed his grief over his decision of making his son, Akhilesh Yadav as the UP chief minister. "It could have fallen lower had I not campaigned", he said referring to the SP's stunning defeat in the polls as he exhorted the workers to strengthen the party.

Further hitting at the Congress he said, the grand old party had lodged various cases against him.

Backing his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav's comment where he likened Samajwadi Party leader Ramgopal Yadav as "Shakuni", Mulayam said, "Whatever he (Shivpal) said is true", adding, that attempts were made to ensure Shivpal's defeat.

Akhilesh Yadav, 44, wrested control of the Samajwadi Party in January, replacing his father as President, a decision which was not welcomed by the patriarch. "As for the Samajwadi Party, it has passed every test and will continue to do so".
