Trump says China should step up on NKorea

China's president Xi Jinping has arrived in Florida ahead of meetings with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

"I think trade is the incentive", Trump said.

He may not have much room to maneuver, however, with a country he has castigated for "stealing" American jobs and doing "little" to rein in North Korea's nuclear program.

Other significant issues expected to come up in the meetings include cyber warfare, China's continued incursion into the South China Sea, and whether President Trump will reiterate the US commitment to the "One China" policy following his call with Taiwan's president during his transition.

The unorthodox location is meant to lessen the formality of the first meeting between the two leaders, White House aides said, and help establish a working relationship, if not rapport, between Trump and Xi after moments of tension during the USA election season. The two men may have never met, but they have a lot to talk about. He told the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in his confirmation hearing in January that it is "appropriate" for Washington to consider secondary sanctions on Chinese entities found to be violating existing sanctions on North Korea if China does not comply with United Nations sanctions. The United States has spoken enough about North Korea.

"China has great influence over North Korea".

China, the largest contributor to the United States' more than $500B trade deficit, underwrote $347 billion of that sum in 2016. "There's a massive desire on the part of Chinese investors to be a part of the U.S. They don't want to see that disrupted", Brenberg said. His administration is considering sanctions against Chinese banks and companies that give Pyongyang access to worldwide financing.

Trump wants more action by China, while Xi will be keen to de-escalate tensions and slow down the process of dealing with North Korea. The US military said Tuesday that nuclear-armed North Korea had fired a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan but that it did not represent a threat to North America.

NY lawmakers want budget vote, Cuomo says there's no deal
But this year he was rebuffed by Legislators who demanded action on non-budget issues as part of a deal to pass an on-time budget. Cuomo has said he's running for a third term as governor. "I will stay here as long as they stay here".

The deployment of THAAD, the USA missile defense system, was also discussed.

He said Trump's relative lack of political experience would be no match for Chinese political veteran Xi, however.

Trump believes Beijing has kept its currency - the yuan - artificially low as part of a trade policy that has destroyed American jobs and created an enormous gap between what the USA imports and exports from China.

Yen said the summit would be nothing more than a "friendly chat" between the two leaders, as the Trump administration has yet to develop a coherent Asia strategy or put in place a policy team for the region, precluding the possibility of an announcement of a joint communique.

And there's no mystery over the agenda at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Nearly a fifth of China's exports head to the United States.

Xi's main objective will not be establishing a relationship "for the next three or four years, but stable ties during the next three quarters" through China's 19th Party Congress, according to the source.

Council members said they "deplore" all North Korean ballistic missile activity, stressing that it contributes to the country's development of nuclear weapons delivery systems and diverts resources from the needs of its people.
