Tiger to design public course at Big Cedar Lodge

Payne's Valley, named for Springfield's Payne Stewart, is not the first course designed by the 14-time major champion, but it's his first public golf course.

Tiger Woods opened his first public golf course on Wednesday morning (AEST) in Ridgedale, Missouri. "I'm very lucky and very privileged", said Woods, whose first North American design was Bluejack National near Houston, Texas and a short course called The Playgrounds.

Stewart's wife Tracey says she's touched by the naming of this new course. Woods, 41, quipped that he's closing in on eligibility for the Champions Tour. "Tiger and I were talking today as we were driving around".

"It's going to be a fun experience", Woods said. "And Johnny and I go way back, and I like spending time around people I want to spend time with, and to be able to have an opportunity to come here to this unbelievable piece of property, to have Tracy here and to have Payne's Valley, it means so much to me to have that opportunity".

Isco's fine individual effort and a towering header from Alvaro Morata ensured neither lead lasted more than a few minutes. He said: "Zidane makes the line-ups and is managing the squad in an extraordinary way".

The target open date for Payne's Valley is 2019. Woods hit two shots into a par three at his under-construction course.

Golfer Tiger Woods and Bass Pro's Johnny Morris are teaming up to honor a Springfield golfing legend and add more golf to Branson.

The golf course development has kept Woods busy as he recovers from back surgery.

The announcement was less about Woods' health and future, though, than the newest course design for his company, TGR Design. Johnny Morris, owner of Big Cedar Lodge and Bass Pro Shops, purchased that land in October 2013. It was really cool to go and play a country club because the greens were so nice and manicured and I had never seen anything like it. "I have traveled all over the world and played all over the world".
