Sushma calls on Malaysian PM Razak

The Prime Minister said that since relations between Malaysia and India officially began in 1957, economic and trade relations have gone from strength to strength. "Indian languages, culture and food are popular in Malaysia", he said.

On an official trip to India this week, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has paid iconic Tamil cinema superstar Rajinikanth a visit at the latter's home there.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today invited more Indian investors to leverage on Malaysia's strategic location to strengthen their presence in the ASEAN region and beyond. "The exchange of the documents will be witnessed by both Prime Minister Najib and Prime Minister Modi", the statement said.

Briefing reporters on the six-day visit, Jaideep Mazumdar, Joint Secretary (South) in the External Affairs Ministry, said, "Projects under discussion during the visit would amount to around United States dollars five billion", and about 15 business agreements are also expected to be signed during a business event on April 3. "Infrastructure has been an area of fruitful partnership between us, but we can do much more", he said. "Malaysia is open for business", Najib added.

The President said commercial and investment relations have become the mainstay of India-Malaysia relations.
