Nadal Beats Fognini To Reach Miami Final

Rafael Nadal is back in the final at Key Biscayne for the fifth time, still looking for his first championship in the tournament.

Rafael Nadal of Spain in action against Fabio Fognini of Italy during a semifinal round match at the Miami Open tennis tournament on Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida, USA, 31 March 2017. Fognini, who will break into the top 30 again next week (he will be World No. 28, +12 than last week) was playing his second Masters 1000 semifinal in his career after the one lost to Novak Djokovic at the 2013 Monte Carlo event. He'll take on the victor of Roger Federer and Nick Kyrgios in the final.

Australia's Nick Kyrgios defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals, the 19-year-old German having beaten Stan Wawrinka in the previous round.

On Saturday afternoon, Johanna Konta and Caroline Wozniacki will play for the women's singles final.

Fognini was never able to gain his footing after getting broken for the first time, which allowed Nadal to quickly roll to a 1-0 lead in sets.

Syrian opposition calls on US to spare civilians in Raqqa
The Tabqa dam is located on the Euphrates river about 40 kilometers upstream from Islamic State's de facto capital, Raqqa. A source at the dam had earlier said the work to assess and fix damage at the dam could last two or three days.

Nadal raced through the first set in 26 minutes, losing only four points on serve while Fognini made 14 unforced errors.

"It's not the first time that I play matches with Rafa", he added.

Nadal said he had no preference as to who he would like to face. Fognini hit a drop shot to cause the sneaker malfunction, laughed at length while Nadal retied his shoe and played better after that.

The second set was up for grabs until Fognini double-faulted to fall behind 6-5. Nadal then served out the match at love. "That gives you calm when you have opportunities on the return".
