IPhone 8 rumour round-up: Everything we know so far

The iPhone 8 is probably still half a year away, yet speculations about the device are already trickling in a steady stream. An older rendering hinted that there would be no obvious Touch ID sensor that breaks the seamless design of the device, but just a marking over a flat surface. It's possible the company is taking advantage of this technology for the iPhone 8.

However, the latest leak shows the display taking up the entire front area of the smartphone and there is no dedicated home button or a Touch ID sensor.

According to Forbes, the company might also be waiting on Apple, who is expected to match, if not, top that deal as it prepares for the production of the iPhone 8, which is also expected to make use of flexible OLED displays. The iPhone 8 is said to come with an edge-to-edge screen with no bezels.

However, if Apple does aim for an all-screen solution, it beats the question: What happens to the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that now sits within a soon-to-be-gone Home button?

Another leak by Domenico Panacea of macitynet, suggests that the device will skip the physical home button, and come embedded with a digital button on the lower side of the display.

Evacuations begin in four besieged Syrian cities
The evacuation of the four villages is expected to take place today, the Syrian Observatory told AFP . But residents in Zabadani and Madaya said conditions in their two towns had become too hard to bear.

The iPhone 8 has hit rumor mills again, this time in the form of a couple of renders by Weibo leakster KK. However, he said Apple's 3D sensing production appears on track, and could be a viable alternative to fingerprints. If Touch ID is dropped it would create enormous pressure on unproven 3D sensing tech to replace the verification system on current generation devices. At this point, Hargreaves does not believe Apple's optical fingerprint module provider has received firm orders for production, which to him suggests that Apple does not have functionality of the optical fingerprint sensor ready. Apple is also dilly-dallying regarding its fingerprint sensor. Smartphone makers are moving from LCD to OLED screens, with Apple leading the charge.

'By April, we normally see a flood of next-gen iPhone cases, schematics leak and blurry photos from the factory floor, ' Benjamin Mayo with 9to5Mac wrote.

Arcuri also stated that the upcoming iPhone 8 may provide 2 storage options to its users namely 64 GB and 256 GB.

And the biggest change to the back of the phone, Macotakara says, is that the dual camera lenses in the iPhone 7 Plus will be incorporated into the iPhone 8 but stacked vertically down the length of the iPhone body to boost virtual reality features.
