House Democrats expect to see intelligence documents soon

In 2013, Buryakov and two other Russian spies targeted for recruitment US energy consultant Carter Page, once listed by President Donald Trump as one of his foreign policy advisers, BuzzFeed News reported on April 3.

The complaint includes transcripts from 2013 of wiretapped conversations among the Russians discussing their efforts to recruit Male 1, identified as a NY energy trader whom the Russians described as willing to talk.

The 2015 court document also charged two other Russians, Evgeny Buryakov and Igor Sporyshev, as part of the conspiracy.

According to the 2015 complaint filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, Page met with a Russian agent, Victor Podobnyy, in January 2013 at an energy conference in New York.

Congressional committees and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating what US intelligence has concluded were attempts by Moscow to influence the USA election in Trump's favor.

At the time, Mr Page was an energy consultant working in NY.

In a statement released Tuesday, Page confirmed his role in the 2015 Justice Department spy case, adding another twist to the still unfolding story of Donald Trump's peculiar and expanding ties to people connected to Russian Federation.

Prosecution documents say that Mr Podobnyy tried to recruit Mr Page.

According to a partial transcript of the conversation included with the complaint, the Russians laughed over how they believed Page had no idea that they were Russian agents. While the meeting was considered positive by the UAE and Russian Federation, they opted not to arrange any other summits between Putin's friend, who has not been identified, and Prince because of the political risk, officials said.

Derrick Rose to have knee surgery, miss rest of season
The Knicks are 29-48 after Sunday's 110-94 loss to the Boston Celtics and will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight season. He later had surgery twice on his right knee for torn meniscus issues, and this latest meniscus tear is in his left again.

Page's role in the Trump campaign has been a subject of intense scrutiny in recent months.

Ultimately, no matter how often the president tries to deflect from this explosive scandal by spewing nonsense on Twitter or perpetuating tin-foil hat conspiracy theories about Barack Obama, this controversy isn't going away.

Each day, those connections grow tighter and more apparent.

Page's cameo in the Buryakov spy case has not been previously reported. And Page told BuzzFeed the talks didn't include "anything sensitive". "I think he needs to explain himself", Graham told the Today Show on March 28.

When contacted Monday by The Associated Press, Page said he was not available for comment.

Page said in a statement released Monday that he helped USA federal investigators during the case, which led prosecutors to charge three Russians in connection with spying. His responses to how many other contacts there might have been during the Trump campaign have been rather freakish.

In another section, Podobnyy said: "I like that he takes on everything".

With the swirl of intrigue surrounding the Russian government's efforts to influence the 2016 election, and its many ties to Team Trump, it may come as no surprise that one of Donald Trump's former advisers was reportedly targeted for recruitment and shared documents with a Russian spy before joining the real-estate mogul's campaign.
