Hat-trick hero Ronaldo first to 100 Champions League goals

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer fractured his left foot in his side's 4-2 Champions League defeat against Real Madrid, that saw the Bundesliga leaders exit the competition at the quarterfinal stage in a 6-3 aggregate loss. He then scored from an offside position minutes later to make it 3-2.

Bayern were stunned when Vidal, left, was shown his second yellow card, in the 85th minute. "It goes both ways, that is football", said Zidane.

The goal cancelled Madrid's slim advantage and threw open the qualification.

However, the current Champions League holders rode their luck courtesy of two controversial decisions from referee Viktor Kassai.

"The team was courageous", Bayern defender Philipp Lahm said.

There were other contentious decisions on the night, including Casemiro avoiding a red card for a late foul on Bayern's Arjen Robben when already booked and an offside against Robert Lewandowski in the second half when the Polish striker was well placed.

But Real Madrid were level for barely a minute before Bayern put their noses in front again, and it came courtesy of a Ramos own goal.

Two minutes later, though, Ramos found his own net when his deflection sent the ball trickling across the goal line. The card given to Arturo [after 84 minutes] wasn't a card.

"He is a player who always gives the maximum".

While there was some doubt over the legitimacy of his second effort at Santiago Bernabeu, the same questions were asked of his third.

With the game heading towards extra-time Vidal was sent off for a second booking after appearing to win the ball cleanly from Asensio, leaving Bayern with 10 like in the first leg when Javi Martinez was dismissed.
