Golden age of BJP yet to come: Shah

Hitting out at Modi for his remark on starvation and poverty in Odisha at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh in February, he said that BJP was equally responsible for the state's poor financial position as the party had shared power with BJD for nine years since 2000.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, who is on a two-visit to Bhubaneswar for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive meeting said this meet can prove to be a milestone in the upcoming elections of Odisha.

Shah, seen as the chief architect of the party's poll victories, also trashed opposition claim about tampering with electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said he is not anxious over national executive meeting here by BJP, whose leaders have claimed that the party would emerge victorious in the next assembly election.

"BJP rules most of the states in the country".

"Mr. Shah said that when the BJP won in 2014, analysts said the party had peaked".

While addressing BJP National Executive meeting here, Shah came down heavily on Odisha government which is headed by BJD, also a regional party.

Exhorting delegates to strive hard to build upon the momentum, and ensure the party's decisive presence across the country, Shah asked all national executive members to travel to different parts of India for a minimum of 15 days. "They will meet party workers", Prasad said.

In the panchayat elections in the state in February, the saffron party was unable to win a higher number of seats than the Biju Janata Dal, which has been in power in Odisha for the past 17 years. "They then said in 2017 (after elections to the five states, including Uttar Pradesh) that the BJP has now attained it peak, but it is not the case", Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted Amit Shah as saying at the inaugural session.

"We want to strengthen our party".

The BJP has also planned a virtual road show for Modi when he arrives in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Taking a dig at the Naveen Patnaik government, he said it has failed on the governance front and as a result, Odisha is much behind other states on development parameters.

Modi, who was clad in all white, beamed and waved at the people gathered on both sides of the road for a glimpse with lotus flowers in their hands.

The Prime Minister, earlier, held a roadshow in the state capital ahead of the meeting.
