Five Kids Injured after Bounce House goes Airborne

At least five children were injured after two inflatable bounce houses went flying in SC.

The incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday at the church's campus on Wade Hampton Boulevard.

At least five children were injured after two inflatable bounce houses went flying. Two children had injuries that required an overnight stay, officials said.

Springwell Church invites the community to attend its free spring carnival each year, but this year the carnival ended in tears, with church members asking for prayer.

Kellie Owens, a witness, said she heard the children screaming.

According to Springwell Church, the church was hosting a festival when a gust of wind picked up the bounce house.

The power lines were damaged which caused a power outage for several hours in the area.

Reed said the power line had a safety mechanism that deactivated the electricity when it was hit.

"Everybody was just enjoying themselves, [it was a] calm day", said a witness who asked not to be identified told WCMH.

An unexpected wind gust, out of our control, lifted an inflatable amusement that was on our campus for the event.

Five children were injured when a bounce house went airborne and hit power lines, according to police.
