Dems say Trump can avert shutdown risk if he relents on wall

As for the wall, White House officials are still touting the drop in crossings at the U.S. Mexico border as one of their biggest accomplishments. Trump said repeatedly on the campaign trail that Mexico would foot the bill.

NANCY PELOSI: The wall is, in my view, immoral, expensive, unwise.

Trump and his team have taken to calling the 100-day milestone "ridiculous" or "artificial" - and many observers on both sides of the aisle agree.

That figure is lower than the estimated costs of project conducted by other groups and arrives as Democratic and Republican lawmakers work to pass a spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.

Trump is insisting that the budget agreement being negotiated by lawmakers to avoid a partial shutdown of the United States government include funding for the wall, but that demand is complicating the negotiations, Efe news reported.

While President Trump could become the first commander-in-chief to have funds run out during his first 100 days, Cain said that would be less of a reflection on him and more of a make or break moment "for Congress". He noted that estimates to pay for the wall have suggested it could cost as much as $70 billion.

Researchers have pointed out that a more fortified U.S. -Mexico border wall will actually lead to more deaths of people making the crossing for economic, political and family reasons.

In a second tweet, he added: "The Democrats don't want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS 13 gang members".

Former Ga governor could become Secretary of Agriculture soon
Trump in March outlined a budget proposal that would reduce the USDA's discretionary funding by about one-fifth to $17.9 billion. The White House hasn't said when Perdue will be sworn in, but he is scheduled to speak to USDA staff Tuesday morning.

Existing-Home Sales March On at Highest Pace in 10-Plus Years
In the Northeast, existing-home sales jumped 10.1 percent to an annual rate of 760,000 million, up 4.1 percent from a year ago. That beat the record set in January as the strongest sales since February 2007, and was 5.9 percent above a year ago.

"Mexico will be paying in some form, for the badly needed border wall". Since the day he announced his presidency, Trump has vowed to divide Mexico and the United States with a wall.

Over the weekend, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney told Fox News, "We will negotiate with the Democrats", and said nobody "thinks a shutdown is desirable". Trump will sign executive orders on energy and rural policies, meet with the president of Argentina and travel to Atlanta for a National Rifle Association event.

The White House also scrambled to temper expectations over the weekend after Trump on Friday promised a "big announcement" on tax reform this week, which aides said would simply outline the administration's "broad principles and priorities" - broad strokes Trump already laid out during his campaign.

The mixed messaging continued on health care, where Priebus and Mulvaney continued to push for a vote to repeal and replace Obamacare, days after Trump told reporters "it doesn't matter" if a vote comes to fruition this week.

He also hopes to use the one trillion dollar catch-all spending bill to salvage victories on his promised border wall, a multibillion-dollar down payment on a Pentagon build-up, and perhaps a crackdown on cities which refuse to co-operate with immigration enforcement by federal authorities. House members received little information from leaders on a conference call this past Saturday.

When asked "how committed the President is to having the border wall funded this week", White House press secretary Sean Spicer responded, "the money for our military and our border security and wall have been part of that request and that is something that really are the President's priorities", with respect to the CR and keeping the government open.

If no spending measure covering April 29 to September 30 is in place before 12:01 a.m. (0401 GMT) on Saturday, government funds will halt and hundreds of thousands of the country's several million federal employees will be temporarily laid off. "I think we've made progress".

President Donald Trump on Monday redoubled his pledge for a border wall between Mexico and the USA, spoke to German Chancellor Angela Merkel about the "urgent security challenge" posed by North Korea and is reportedly pushing for cutting the corporate tax rate to 15%. But in 2013, conservative Republicans forced a 17-day shutdown in a failed attempt to repeal former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare.
