Clinton criticizes proposed Trump budget cuts for diplomacy

Clinton spoke to congratulate recipients of her eponymous award at Georgetown University given this year to four women who played a role in the peace deals in Colombia.

Hillary Clinton may not be residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but that hasn't stopped the former Democratic nominee/Secretary of State/Senator/First Lady from using her voice and reminding us all that Donald Trump is temporary.

Trump has revived by presidential memorandum (an executive action) the so-called "Mexico City" policy, which bans US foreign aid from being granted to organizations that provide abortions or information about terminating a pregnancy. In citing studies on women's participation in peacemaking, the secretary poked fun at the post-truth era, saying with a smile, "Here I go again, talking about research evidence, and facts".

Moving on to foreign diplomacy and the roles of women in the US military, Clinton took the opportunity to get a subtle jab in at President Donald Trump.

Clinton said during her contentious race against Trump that he was "an absolute avalanche of falsehoods".

Grassley says that the access is "unprecedented" and claims that Clinton received "special treatment" from the Obama Administration.

Hillary Clinton popped up in Washington, not far from her old stomping grounds at the State Department, to hand out awards to women leaders advancing global peace on Friday.

Paul Ryan: Democrats Don't Want Obamacare Repeal, Republicans Do
Trump tweeted early Thursday, "The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast". The speaker also said he was encouraging Republican lawmakers "to keep talking to one another".

There are enough spiders to eat all of us in one year
For comparison, there are 7 billion humans on the planet who eat a combined total of 400 million tons of meat and fish each year. For instance, one study estimated that global average spider density stands at about 131 spiders per square meter.

Clinton mentioned a letter from 120 retired generals who urged Trump not to make major cuts to diplomacy and foreign aid.

She spoke of the progress the world has made in advancing women's rights since she spoke forcefully on the issue two decades ago when the United Nations gathered world leaders to address it in Beijing. "Turning our back on diplomacy won't make our country safer". She chastised White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer for scolding journalist April Ryan, an African American, to stop shaking her head during an exchange in the White House briefing room.

White House officials said in February that the budget assumes "the rest of the world to step up in some of the programs this country has been so generous in funding" over the years.

Grassley wants more answers from the State Department now that Tillerson is in charge, including whether it ever investigated or sanctioned Clinton and her staff for mishandling information.

She has also begun delivering speeches, including an address Tuesday at a businesswomen's conference in San Francisco where she criticised the shortage of women in Trump's inner circle, and pledged to keep speaking out about issues that matter.
