Apple Watch Series 3 Rumored For Second Half Of 2017

DigiTimes has reported that production of the existing Apple Watch 2 will be partially passed from Quanta Computer to Compal in the second half of the year.

We can expect a multitude of features from the Apple Watch Series 3, but what do you think are the areas which Apple should target the most?

The report suggests that China's Quanta Computer will continue to handle manufacturing of Apple's new Apple Watch Series 3. Featuring water resistance to 50 metres. Additionally, the next iPhone is expected in September and with the Apple Watch being a primary accessory of the iconic smartphone, it only seems natural to release them together.

On Wednesday, Chinese newspaper DigiTimes reported about hearing directly from upstream supply chain Compal Electronics that the next-gen Apple Watch is slated for release in the second half.

While Apple has yet to confirm the existence of the Apple Watch 3, the alleged wearable device is now rumored to come with impressive specs and features that will allow it to fully operate independently from iPhone.

The Apple Watch Series 3 could be available in the second half of 2017, according to a new report based on supply chain chatter. Hence, it is likely for Apple Watch 3 to arrive in 2018.

Compal's investor relations declined to comment on the report.

Compal is the world's second-largest contract notebook manufacturer by shipments. It has, however, been diversifying in the last few years and some of these efforts have been paying off. The Apple Watch Series 2 already boasts a super-bright, colourful and crisp display, so chances are it won't be tweaked too much. The Chongqing facilities are expected to become the main manufacturing sites for devices ranging from smartphones to tablets to wearables. According to the latest statistic, Compal is quite proficient when it comes to making miniature devices, as the company shipped five million wearables and IoT devices in 2016.
