How Celebrities Are Remembering Notorious BIG On 20th Anniversary Of Death

Defending the late Notorious B.I.G.'s honor, Canibus rapped, "The greatest rapper of all time died on March 9!"

Thousands of fans and music stars across NY and the nation are honoring the Notorious B.I.G. with heartfelt tributes Thursday as they mark 20 years since the rapper from Brooklyn was shot and killed.

He described his first meeting with Biggie at a soul food restaurant in Harlem, saying, "The first thing I remember was how big and black he was", in contrast to numerous rappers who had gone mainstream by the 1990s.

His death on March 9, 1997 came approximately six months after that of Tupac Shakur, who died in the same manner in Las Vegas. Christopher Wallace, the rapper's legal name, was shot four times. "I want everyone to get involved and rap your favorite Biggie verse, tag me and use the hashtag #WeMissYouBIG", Diddy posted on his Instagram account. Not to mention, former Nets minority owner Sean Carter (Jay Z), has not only found great influence in the late "King of NY", but was also known to be close friends with the fallen lyricist.

Wallace went on to say that she thinks she knows the identity of her son's murderer, and that the Los Angeles Police never wanted to solve the crime.

China's 2017 defence budget to rise 7pc
China's Defense Ministry has said it is monitoring the ongoing Vinson-led operations - the first in the waterway under the Trump administration.

However, a clue to who killed the 24-year-old may be in a video of the shooting.

Biggie's mother, Voletta Wallace, along with his friend and Bad Boy Records label head Sean "Diddy" Combs will be in attendance at Barclay's Center. "On this day we're gonna reflect for him".

Twenty years after his death, Biggie Smalls is still a big draw.

"The music he made in the 90's era really inspired me", DJ Lonnie B said.

"[His music] is still just as impactful, as if he were this new, dope rapper from Brooklyn, now", singer Faith Evans, Biggie's wife at the time of his death, said in a CNN interview.
