Geno Smith plans to sign with the Giants

Now, multiple reports have indicated that the Giants will also add former New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith to the mix.

At 26, Smith said he wanted to have a shot at starting elsewhere, but that won't happen anytime soon behind Manning, who has started 199 straight games, which is the most among active quarterbacks.

The expectation is that Smith will take a physical at some point this weekend and if all goes well, he will sign his contract and the deal will become official early next week. He has started 14 games since the 2014 season and played in just two games last season. He missed most of the 2015 season after he was punched in the jaw by teammate IK Enemkpali in the Jets locker room.

Smith, a second-round pick back in 2013, boasts a career 12-18 record in 30 starts with 35 total touchdowns and 36 interceptions.

Trinamool MLA supports BJP in Manipur
In the end, the BJP had moved closer to taking a decisive hold of two more states, turning what looked like a 2-3 score into 4-1. Moreover, the party could have protested before the state governor and convince her by presenting the list of supporters.

The team also re-signed veteran Josh Johnson on Friday, per his agent, Doug Hendrickson.

With the Giants, the issue is not whether Smith can emerge as an option to one day become Manning's successor. Johnson was a Giants backup in 2016, serving mostly as a third-string player. Current backup Ryan Nassib has proved to be horrific in live action, so the Giants must have felt uneasy about their depth behind Eli.

Manning has 201 regular season and 12 postseason games of National Football League experience under his belt.

However, the free agent will not be re-upping with Gang Green.
