EMT Struck, Killed By Stolen Ambulance in NYC; Suspect Charged

Arroyo and her partner tried to stop him and he put the ambulance in reverse; Arroyo fell to the ground and Gonzalez allegedly drove over her. The emergency worker in the passenger seat got out of the ambulance first, followed by Arroyo, to confront the man, ABC reported. A bystander's video, posted on Twitter, captured a horrific scene of the ambulance speeding across an intersection with one of its doors open, its lights flashing and Arroyo's body being dragged beneath. She later died at the Bronx's Jacobi Medical Center.

Witness Nancy Montavo told the News Williams "was screaming, 'my partner, my partner!' She was screaming hysterically".

NY mayor Bill de Blasio said: "I want to thank those good Samaritans who helped apprehend the perpetrator".

The fire department on Saturday announced funeral arrangements for emergency medical technician Yadira Arroyo. A K-9 officer and several bystanders prevented the man from fleeing.

De Blasio said her identity would not be released until all family members have been notified.

The man accused of hitting and killing an FDNY EMT with a stolen ambulance is being held without bail.

Authorities initially said two EMTs were struck, but it was later confirmed that only Arroyo was hit by the ambulance. "They should not ever have to be subjected to violence, and yet that danger always exists for them". Speaking exclusively with Eyewitness News, he says he tried so hard to get his son on the right path, but just couldn't break through.

Filmmaker Says New Video Shows Michael Brown Didn't Rob Local Store
The new footage, first reported by the New York Times , appears to show Brown entering Ferguson Market & Liquor just after 1 a.m. That video shows Brown walking out the store with boxes of cigarillos sans the plastic bag they were in from the night before.

She says the children were devastated.

"They were acting very bravely", FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.

"The vehicle ran over her, and you could see it hop", said music producer SwavyJayBeats, who was being driven home when he started videotaping the runaway ambulance. "That being said, no matter how many times we do this, it does not make it any easier".

A second video shows Arroyo motionless on the pavement as a woman - who sources said appears to be Williams - leans over her.

"Saving lives and caring for New Yorkers was her calling", the NYPD said in a tweet.

"I'm innocent. I didn't do nothing", said Jose Gonzalez, 25, who was set to be arraigned in a Bronx courtroom later Friday on charges including murder.
