What You Need To Know About KEYone, Blackberry's New Device

Starting with the design, BlackBerry went with a pretty minimal but cluttery look, if you will, as the combination of sensors and the physical keyboard make the front look busy while the rear looks like your typical BB-branded handset. Blackberry is yet to announce the launch date of the phone for the Indian market.

Before the official commencement of the MWC 2017, BlackBerry launched its latest smartphone called KEYone. The 4.3-inch AMOLED display has an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a resolution of 1620×1080 pixels. There's only one option for internal storage, which is 32 gigabytes, but the microSD card slot can support up to 2 terabytes of additional storage.

There's also a 12-megapixel camera on the rear using the Sony IMX378 camera sensor - that's the same snapper fitted within the brilliant Google Pixel. It also supports predictive texting, and allows for words to be flicked on to the screen as one types. The BlackBerry KeyOne is the first third-party BlackBerry device and let's see how the phone measures up to all the expectations... It also has the biggest ever battery life of any Blackberry, and is claiming a 50 per cent charge in around 36 minutes.

Blackberry says that the KEYone offers more screen space when typing a message, as compared to an all touch screen in which nearly half of the screen estate is taken over by the virtual keyboard.

For starters, it incorporates the beloved physical hardware keyboard.

Blackberry seems to have made a great comeback with the KEYOne physical keyboard under TLC Communication's moniker, ahead of the forthcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We have worked closely with TCL to build security and the BlackBerry experience into every layer of KEYone, so the BlackBerry DNA remains very much in place.

BlackBerry has added its own security features, making the phone secure compared to any other Android device.

BlackBerry KEYone runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and features BlackBerry Hub, with security and encryption features. At least the KeyOne has an aluminum frame, which gets exposed on the sides of the device, while the back is a plastic soft touch material. It will be priced at $549 (approx Rs 38,600) in the US, GBP 499 (roughly Rs 41,400) in the United Kingdom, and Euro 599 (roughly Rs 42,100) in Europe.

The BlackBerry KEYone will be available for a price of $549 from early-April, and will be available across the globe. The front of the device has an 8MP snapper. The availability of the phone in India is not yet clear.
