Trump threatens U.C. Berkeley after protests stop far-right speech

But a user on the popular pro-Trump subreddit The_Donald claimed: "I was at UC Berkeley last night".

If they want to invite [Yiannopoulos], that's fine, you don't have to go see him, you don't have to go see him.

The University of California at Berkeley cancelled an appearance by Milo Yiannopoulos following a violent student protest. There's rumors that they actually were right-wingers, they were part of a kind of a group that were organized and were ready to create the kind of tumult and danger you saw that forced the police to cancel the event.

The friendly Don Lemon fleshed out Reich's train of thought, such as it was, to ask somewhat incredulously: "You think this was a strategy by Yiannopoulos or right wingers?"

Berkeley University said it did not endorse his ideas but was committed to free speech and rejected calls to cancel the event, which was sponsored by the campus Republican club.

President Donald Trump's apparent warning that the University of California at Berkeley could be at risk of losing federal funds after campus police canceled a talk by a controversial news editor has raised questions about whether the US government can restrict funding to a particular university.

"We anticipate there will be major protest/ demonstration activity leading up to and surrounding this event", the letter from school officials said. The attacks spurred Trump to tweet early Thursday that he will consider cutting off federal funds to Berkeley.

Meanwhile, Yiannopoulos, who identifies himself as an "openly gay Christian", has called himself a "catalyst for change": "American universities should be on notice", he told Business Insider in a text message.

Kahraba hands Egypt ticket to AFCON semi-final
Head coach of Morocco's national football team, Hervé Renard, is dreaming of topping the 2017 African Cup of Nations (CAN2017 ). Egypt had to wait until the 34th minute for the first chance of the game, as Hegazy headed over the crossbar from close range.

Unfortunately, from the moment he opened his mouth I knew where he was headed.

Ronnau and his collegues watched out for each other as they walked through campus Thursday, the potential for violence keeping them on edge.

Protesters watching a bonfire Wednesday night on Sproul Plaza during a rally against the scheduled speaking appearance by Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos on the University of California at Berkeley campus. Yiannopoulos says he is one, and for the most part he's probably correct, if you accept his stipulation that what makes him such a lightning rod isn't the positions he takes but the flamboyant manner in which he expresses them.

That group also wrote that the university should reinstate the security fee policy and charge what the event cost the university.

The disturbances were a fiery reminder of the university's history as a cradle of the 1960s anti-war movement - and a microcosm of the tensions between America's mostly left-wing student bodies against a far-right minority.

Second, Berkeley did not practice violence against anyone except the protestors who were violently threatening Milo's First Amendment rights.

"What happened on the Berkeley campus is just not something I think Democrats, liberals, progressives can condone", Newsom said.
