Trump names ex-George W. Bush official as Labor secretary pick

Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, who chairs the Senate Health, Labor, Education and Pensions Committee that will hold a confirmation hearing on Acosta's nomination, in a statement.

The New York Times reported that the president was planning to ask Stephen A Feinberg, co-founder of Cerberus Capital Management, a private investment firm, to conduct the review and stay on for a large role in the intelligence community.

Miami native and law school dean R. Alexander Acosta has been chosen by President Donald Trump to lead the U.S. Department of Labor. Harward also served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Acosta now is dean of Florida International University College of Law. He previously served as USA attorney for the Southern District of Florida and assistant attorney general under George W. Bush. If confirmed, Acosta will be the only Hispanic person in Trump's cabinet.

Puzder has denied he abused his wife.
