Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Talks to Join Han Solo Movie

Now that the production of the second Star Wars standalone film - Han Solo - has begun, the cast is continuing to grow.

According to Variety, Waller-Bridge has taken on a "CGI-driven" performance which "would still be a significant part of the ensemble". The film, which shoots this spring for release in May 2018, stars Alden Ehrenreich as a younger incarnation of the charming space pilot.

Variety reported that the role is for a "CGI-based character similarly to key Star Wars characters in the past like Chewbacca, C-3P0 and most recently, Alan Tudyk's K-2SO in Rogue One". The fact that she would be playing an unexpected new character, and would have to undergo a complete transformation for the part, is even more exciting.

The Han Solo movie already has a whole host of well-known actors from hit and cult TV shows alike, from Donald Glover to Emilia Clarke - and it's about to add one more to its swelling ranks if rumours are to be believed.

Phoebe would join a cast whose star wattage has increased exponentially since it was announced a year ago that Alden Ehrenreich would play the young Han Solo. Here's hoping the Han Solo spin-off is the next project we get to watch her in.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were behind the 2014 Lego Movie, are on board to direct.

"Rogue One" made for a very happy holiday season at the box office so why not follow "Force Awakens", "Rogue One" and the upcoming eighth film in the Skywalker saga "Star Wars: The Last Jedi".
