Metallica, Lady Gaga overcome technical difficulties during Grammys performance

Both with huge fan bases, expectations for Lady Gaga and Metallica's 2017 Grammy performance were high, but fans didn't get what they hoped for. Gaga and Metallica's James Hetfield traded off lead vocals while a ragtag assortment of punk kids moshed with them onstage throughout Metallica's song "Moth Into Flame".

Gaga has always been a rock star and her latest record Joanne captures the pop star's clearest embrace of the genre to date.

Striking a pose after taking to the stage with Metallica earlier in the night, Lady Gaga showed off her best moves at LA hotspot Peppermint. Plus she also dressed up as David Bowie at Grammy 2016.

It was the second time the British singer's performance at the awards ceremony had been hindered, after a mic fell on the piano strings during her track All I Ask previous year. The rest of the performance went off without a hitch and ended with crowd-surfing by Gaga.

Israel likely to pass bill retroactively legalising Jewish settlements
The bill retroactively "legalizes" Jewish settlements built on Palestinian land, and has been condemned by the global community. The clause that would have circumvented that court ruling, however, was removed from the bill following coalition infighting.

Somalia: Ex-prime minister wins presidential race
Somalia has not seen a powerful central government since former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre was toppled by warlords in 1991. Mohamud held a slight lead over Farmajo after an initial round of voting Wednesday that included a field of 21 candidates.

Mariya Savinova: Russian London 2012 gold medalist stripped of title
The six-meet IAAF Golden League was discontinued the following season to pave way for the current IAAF Diamond League circuit. Savinova will also lose her 800m gold from the 2011 World Championships and the European Championships in 2010.

Last week, Gaga responded to her body shamers, who compared her stomach to a "little flat tire of fat", among other things. She further repped her Metallica fandom by saying that she'd "seen them a couple of times live" before taking in a recent performance and coming away feeling awed. And in Metallica's world, the Grammys were long forgotten by the time the band left the Palladium stage. She told fans they should never "cater to anyone or anything to succeed", and added, "Be relentlessly you".

This has truly been Lady Gaga's month. In a Reddit AMA from a couple of years ago, she professed her love for Metallica, as well as bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Judas Priest.

According to Us Weekly, the superstar's new relationship turned heads at the event as Gaga and Christian were photographed chatting to fellow guests including John Travolta and Ashlee Simpson, who was accompanied by her husband Evan Ross.
