Late surge allows Heels to take down Louisville

Deng Adel paced the Cards with eight points.

On Tuesday night, University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari heard it from Missouri fans in the form of "Cal, you suck" chants, flustering the coach and putting an end to his halftime interview on ESPN. It's not every day you get a chance to play for first place in the ACC.

Louisville held Carolina to just 37.1 percent shooting from the field - its lowest in a win this season.

This season is just another example of UNC digging its heels in (sorry, no pun intended) at the flawless time. Louisville's defense stifled the Tar Heels to 2-of-15 shooting and four turnovers.

Cole Aker earned the win on the mound for North Carolina, tossing 6.0 innings with three strikeouts, allowing one earned run.

Roy Williams is famous for admonishing the Smith Center crowd when he doesn't think it's doing enough to support of his North Carolina basketball team. Mitchell leads in points with 15.6 and in steals with 2.1 per game. UNC shot 20-of-27 from the line, while Louisville went 4-for-13.

When a reporter asked what the fan said to him, Pitino responded, "Something kind about me", and smiled.

Look, there's no shame in losing to a current No. 1 seed in their home arena where they're undefeated this season, but this was not a tremendous effort from Carolina, and Louisville didn't come close to taking advantage.

Meanwhile, since Louisville entered the ACC it has split the previous four meetings with the Tar Heels. The Orange's win meant that the Tar Heels, with a victory of their own, could take a full two-game lead atop the ACC standings.

Justin Jackson and Joel Berry have both been tremendous for the Heels this season, combining to average 33.6 points and shoot 40.2 percent from beyond the arc, but this could be their most hard matchup of the season. North Carolina is a slight favorite in this game.

North Carolina 74, Louisville 63.

"I don't like that", Williams told the newspaper. The Tar Heels' relive losing on Kris Jenkins' 3-pointer without being prompted and they don't want to forget it either.

The Tar Heels play Pittsburgh on the road Saturday. Louisville is home Sunday against Syracuse, meeting the Orange for the second time in less than a two-week span.
