Idaho reports most flu deaths since 2000

There have been 47 flu-related deaths so far this season, according to Idaho Health & Welfare Department data.

This year, laboratory tests done by the ADPH show that most of the circulating virus in Alabama is influenza A (H3), which is similar to the virus protection found in this year's flu vaccine.

The eight new deaths were reported between February 5 and February 11, bringing the total to 32 deaths for the season, which began officially on October 2 previous year, according to the North Carolina Division of Public Health. That occurred during the 2012-2013 season.

ICE agents arrest alleged domestic abuse victim in court
Federal immigration officials reportedly arrested an illegal immigrant in Texas who was seeking help for domestic violence. He said a domestic violence victim's legal status should not matter when they're reporting a crime or offering testimony.

"Unfortunately, this flu season is far from over", said Dr. Leslie Tengelsen, Idaho's influenza surveillance coordinator, in the release.

Overall deaths from pneumonia and flu were at 7.8%, keeping the level above the epidemic threshold of 7.5% for this point in the flu season. It is not too late to get your flu vaccine. The vaccine takes up to two weeks to begin working fully, so getting the vaccine sooner than later is recommended. That's not bad since the bug that's making most people sick is one of the worst.

This year's flu vaccine is a good match for the virus circulating in most parts of the country. Every year, influenza contributes to an estimated 36,000 deaths in the United States, along with more than 200,000 hospitalizations. Young children, older people, and those with health conditions are most at risk.
