Senate Democrats vow legislation to block Trump's travel ban

President Trump mocked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Monday, accusing him of "fake tears" after Schumer gave an emotional response to Trump's refugee order temporarily banning refugees over the weekend.

"Anyone who knows how the refugee vetting process works knows the weakest link in American security is not via this process", Schumer said.

Mr Trump's executive order issued Friday temporarily banning travelers from seven predominantly Muslim countries and suspending the arrival of all refugees prompted thousands to protest at major United States airports amid outrage around the world.

The New York Democrat made it clear he is a hard "no" on a number of Trump's picks, especially in the wake of the president signing an executive order halting visas and immigration from seven Middle Eastern countries for 120 days. "It's not fair and it's not right", he added.

Though Trump's aides insist they had consulted for weeks with relevant officials, the head of the customs and border service in the Obama administration said Trump's team never talked to him about it, according to the New York Times.

She said her bills would bar Trump from unilaterally banishing factions of immigrants.

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., is reportedly preparing legislation that forces Trump's executive order to comply with the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, which makes it illegal to bar immigrants based on national origin.

"Senate Democrats are gonna introduce legislation to overturn this and move it as quickly as we can". Delta did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding its perceived influence on Trump's executive order. We are particularly concerned by reports that this order went into effect with little to no consultation with the Departments of State, Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security, ' they wrote.

Democratic attorneys general from California and NY are among states discussing whether to legally challenge the order, according to officials.
