Orlando Police Arrest Suspect In Officer's Death, Ending Monthlong Manhunt

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi says President-elect Donald Trump has reached out to the husband of a slain Orlando police officer.

Loyd has been the focus of a weeklong manhunt since Lt. Debra Clayton was killed in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Bondi describes the conversation between Trump and Seth Clayton as "a brief, very touching, private conversation between two husbands".

He declared that numerous accusations against him are "made up" and complained that he was roughed up by police after the caught up with him Tuesday night.

Before the officer's shooting, authorities had been looking for Loyd for questioning in the death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon.

He made his first court appearance Thursday morning to face charges filed in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend. They just did that s-- and they're trying to hide it from the news people.

Orlando police released video Thursday of the arrest of Markeith Loyd, a fugitive who had been sought in the December 13 death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend and the January 9 slaying of an Orlando police officer who tried to apprehend him.

Police said they found Loyd Tuesday night in an abandoned west Orlando home - wearing body armor and armed with two guns.

During his tirade, Loyd reasserted claims that he was beaten by police when he was taken into custody.

Mina also confirmed that the officers who arrested Loyd on Tuesday face an excessive force investigation, but he believes they acted appropriately.
