Iran Bans US Visitors In Retaliation

"Iran will take reciprocal measures in order to safeguard the rights of its citizens until the the insulting restrictions are removed", the ministry said, adding that Iranian government respects the American people and distinguishes between them and the hostile policies of the United States government.

The new order Trump signed on Friday bars all persons from seven countries from entering the US for 90 days and suspends the US Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days.

The other six countries listed in the executive order are Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

Tehran's foreign ministry said in a statement it would enforce its own ban "until the offensive United States limitations against Iranian nationals are lifted".

Iran's foreign ministry called the decision "illegal, illogical and contrary to worldwide rules". Unfortunately, President Trump's new ban sends exactly the opposite message.

According to the New York Times, Trump's executive order is illegal.

He further said that the Iranian nation has stood proud and dignified over the past 3,000 years, reminding Trump that nobody has been able to humiliate Iranians throughout the country's history.

Of the countries targeted, Iran sends the most visitors to the U.S. each year, some 35,000 people.

Initially, the United States refugee resettlement program has been suspended for 120 days so that the new Trump administration can establish new vetting rules, probably more strict for visa applicants. "That's who we are." his statement added. While PAAIA and the Iranian American community commend efforts that would enhance our national security, we believe measures based exclusively on national origin are ineffective national security tools and anti-American. Additionally, Rouhani commented on Trump's actions and urged that the world needs to become closer rather than separated by walls in his statement on live Iranian State television below. "Even if there are walls between nations, they must be removed". "They have forgotten that the Berlin wall fell years ago", he said in a speech.
