Anthony Davis among 2017 NBA All-Star Game starters

Former University of Kentucky star Anthony Davis will be a starter for the NBA All-Star Game on February 19 in New Orleans.

Davis joins Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, James Harden and Kawhi Leonard as the Western Conference starters.

This is the fourth time Davis has been picked for the NBA's Western Conference All-Star team.

Cleveland Cavaliers duo James and Irving will start for the Eastern Conference while their Golden State Warriors rivals will do likewise for the West in the new voting system that included players and media for the first time.

Perennial East starters such as Wade and Carmelo Anthony missed out, leaving James surrounded by Irving and three players voted as starters for the first time.

Davis had the lowest score among the three frontcourt players, behind Leonard and Durant in all three votes. Davis is also the second player to be named to at least four All-Star teams in franchise history, again joining Chris Paul.

"It's going to feel incredible, to be an ambassador to the city", said Davis.

That's what the fans, selected media and league players have determined in the all-star voting.

Noticeably absent was Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder who is turning out triple-double performances. And he wants to win the game's Most Valuable Player award. The 66th NBA All-Star Game, which will take place on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Smoothie King Center, will reach fans in more than 200 countries and territories in more than 40 languages. The NBA All-Star Practice, NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and NBA Development League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. 'I'm definitely going after trying to get MVP, especially here in New Orleans.
